Volunteering

Young people who get involved in voluntary work can find that it makes them feel good about themselves as well as giving them the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, have fun – and help others.

Evidence of volunteering looks good on a CV, and volunteering can be a good way of trying out – or breaking into – a career.

Activities can range from helping children, organising a fringe theatre group or lending a hand on a community newspaper.

For further information, go to the *Connexions Direct website.

*Millennium Volunteers is an initiative for young people aged 16 to 24. Projects include sports coaching, environmental issues, youth leadership, music and dance. Awards for excellence are given for 100 and 200 hours spent volunteering.
